VET Pathways

School Courses

There are a number of VET courses offered at Coodanup College and each year this differs according to the needs of our students and the demand for places. We are currently offering certificate courses in the following VET (industry) areas:

  • Agriculture
  • Automotive
  • Conservation & Land Management
  • Construction
  • Digital Media
  • Engineering
  • Hairdressing
  • Hospitality
  • Leadership Development
  • Live Productions
  • Skills for Work Preparation and VOC Pathways
  • Sport Coaching
  • Visual Arts

These options may change and other areas introduced subject to viable numbers and resources.

School Based Traineeships

Many students decide to undertake a School Based Traineeship whilst at Coodanup College. This enables the students to gain on-the-job training whilst completing theory based work books and also gives them a sense of responsibility, strengthens their work ethic, resilience and improves their employability skills, all of which help to prepare them for a better future.

Our students choose from a variety of industry areas such as:

  • Automotive
  • Business
  • Community Pharmacy
  • Community Services (Childcare, Aged Care or Youth Work)
  • Construction
  • Hairdressing
  • Health Support Services
  • Hospitality (Front of house or kitchen operations)
  • Information Technology
  • Sport & Recreation
  • Retail Warehousing Operations

TAFE (Off-Site) Courses

Some students choose to access TAFE courses in various industry areas (options are subject to availability) and in the past these have included the following courses:

  • Automotive
  • Construction
  • Electro-technology
  • Engineering
  • Hospitality
  • Retail with Beauty/Skincare
  • Sampling & Measurement
  • Laboratory Skills & Security Operations

These students are off-site and studying at TAFE either one or two days per week for the whole school year.

Places at TAFE or School Based Traineeships are highly competitive and sought after by many students. Students are selected at the course counselling stage and are chosen on the basis of:

  • Good Attendance
  • Good Behaviour
  • Past Results
  • Successful Work Experience/Work Place Learning

Completing a Certificate II in their chosen industry area not only makes students more employable but can also enable them to access continuing pathways. Many of our students have gone on to further pathways including full-time employment, apprenticeships, Certificate III and Certificate IV courses at TAFE and gone on to study at university.
